Cost of Living in Yantai

Postby aussie-yantai » Fri Jul 23, 2010 4:03 am

Hiya,

I'm new to this site. I'm currently getting ready for transferring from Australia to Yantai for work.

Just trying to get my head around the cost of living. How much roughly would I be looking at to rent a furnished apartment in Yantai? About how much are bills - water, electricity, gas per month? Or would anyone know of somebody who would be able to help me with this information?

I will be checking this forum often so please leave messages here.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Bex, that sounds pretty cheap compared to Beijing where I lived last time I was in China.

I am looking for some more detailed information on a few important things, such as Food and Beverages (the price of a pint of good imported beer, and chinese beer, a decent sandwich, cup of coffee), Accommodation (what is the monthly rent price range and utility costs for a decent 120 sqm 2 bedroom flat, or a single room in a 5 star, 4 star, 3 star, and very basic hotel), Home Services (installing satellite TV dish and annual fees, installing internet and annual fees, getting a nanny, getting a cleaner), Education (tuition costs at a decent international school teaching in English), Travel (minimum taxi and bus fairs, flights to and from beijing/shanghai/seoul/dalian, ship to dalian, buying a cheap car), Leisure (joining the local gym for 1 year, going swimming, getting a foot or body massage) and anything else for daily needs.

Looks too specific, for some, even local couldn't tell it for sure without checking.

So for some points,I suggest you check it after you arrive here.

The living cost would be much lower than that in Beijing. Also much lower than in Aussie,I just returned back from Australia,so,no worry, you will learn them after you arrive here
